September at The Knoll!

Hey everyone!

It is time to update you all on the happenings at The Knoll!

The Knoll has gone through QUITE of work since the last time we updated all of you! From pouring new concrete for walls that were on rotten foundations, to all new insulation, to wall removals! It has been exciting! I hope you all enjoy all the photos! Things are starting to move at a really quick speed these days! In the coming weeks, we will start hanging drywall, getting siding, and a new roof! I can't wait to show you the transformation!! (If you want to see the work in chronological order, start with the photo at the bottom of the page and work up. *wink* This blogging stuff is hard! HA!)

Blessings Everyone!

This photo shows the new windows on the front of the house along with the new wall! The windows make such a huge difference! The transformation is going very well!

This is a current photo of the front of our house! The contractor who will be doing the siding and trim has just started with his crew this week! Our house is DEFINITELY under construction! We even have a portable potty in the parking lot!

This picture shows the new ceiling in the entry. Chris was able to raise it a few inches to give the entry a more "grand" feeling!

This is the finished insulation in the master bedroom!

For the last week, we have also had the new insulation installed! The job was supposed to take 2 days. Five days later, it was finally finished! We will be warm this winter!

Here is what the inside looks like from the entry looking into the great room towards the kitchen and dining room! SO much more OPEN! We love it!

Now, we can see the beautiful mountain from our kitchen table in the morning while we eat breakfast! It is WAY cool!

Here is the INFAMOUS beam! It created much groaning, heaving, and sweat! The wrestling match between the men and the beam was quite entertaining! The men came out the winners! YAY BOYS!

They had to install a large beam to hold up the ceiling since the wall was a weight bearing wall. In this photo, they are prepping to install the VERY HEAVY beam!

Recently, Chris and Zach started the removal of the interior kitchen wall between the kitchen and living room. They wanted it done before drywall came in so that any new drywall could be done. It also needed to be done before the hardwood floors could be installed. It is SO MUCH bigger and AWESOME without that wall!

Chris was pretty happy to have all the prep work done! Now, it is time for the huge concrete truck to come in and make its dump into the ditch! EXCITING! (Now remember, this was not planned! They were hoping to just install some windows on this wall, not build a whole new foundation and wall!)

This is Chris and Zach (our employee) working on digging in order to pour the new concrete foundation! It was HOT but thankfully, they were in the shade!

A temporary bathroom wall had to be installed while the permanent wall was getting a new foundation! We lost our sink and half of our bathroom for a week while the new wall was built! (Again....welcome bugs!)

Water pipes starting leaking in the bathroom during the wall removal! Makes for wonderful photos! Chris is so cool!

The week after our last post, as windows were being hung, a rotten foundation was found under the front of the house! An emergency temporary wall removal was ordered! This is a photo from the laundry room looking out to the front of the house! No wall! (COME ON IN, BUGS!)
