It is APRIL 1ST! We are still truckin' Along!

This is Alexis' room. The insulation that is packed into the wall has been SMASHED to fit. It wasn't made for the width of the wall. In the holes in the bottom of the wall, there is no insulation all the way out onto the eaves.

This is the framed up old doorway into Ashlyn's room. The new doorway is to the right.

This is Ashlyn's new closet! It will have a built-in desk to the left of the closet.

This wall separates the family room from the kitchen. The demo has begun. You can see the old electrical wiring in this photo.

This is the wall where the double, french, sliding door will go in the family room.
Happy April to you!
I sit here and write while it pours rain outside. What lovely spring weather they have here in the Gorge! We are continuing to find "interesting" facts about the Knoll as Chris continues to remove drywall. On Monday, we found that the outside walls of the upstairs and main level have very little insulation in them. They did such a good job at getting double pain windows when they first came on the market in an attempt to be efficient and yet, they didn't insulate their walls! Very funny!
Because the windows are so old, we have found that they no longer are "efficient." The bugs have been crawling through the middle of the windows inside the house. At one time, we have had 15 to 20 flies on the window. After Chris put packing tape on the window, the bugs no longer crawl through and it has cut down the flying bugs DRASTICALLY!
We have since decided that the windows and the siding is a high priority to get fixed! (The siding was not put in correctly either, so the bugs are making little nests under the siding. Lovely!)
Since all the windows will be replaced and many resized, Chris has decided this is a perfect opportunity to find out what is under the drywall. Besides the original electrical and lack of insulation, he hasn't found much. *wink*
The window salesman came to the house yesterday to quote us for a double french sliding door. We can't wait to see how much of a difference that great, big door will make for our awesome view of Mt. Hood!
I feel like I am on "Extreme Homemakeover" but it is taking a little more than a week! *big wink*
Blessings!
