Here you can see a can light. We installed about 43 can lights so far.I also removed drywall on the bottom 48" of the wall for future wainscot. Each wall seems to be a little different thicknesses. Some still have the old lathe and plaster. Some have three layers of drywall. There is 5/8 and 1/2 mixed with each other.
You see bare studs on part of the wall and the rest (closer to the viewer) is lathe and plaster. In the end the wainscot will be uniform to the drywall above it.
